What’s ‘Baby Botox’? What You Need To Know.

You’ve always wanted smooth, wrinkle-free skin but lacked the confidence to get there with injectables. Baby Botox might be the answer. You get natural results with this treatment, which provides the same complexion-refreshing benefits as traditional Botox.

Baby Botox is often referred to as a preventative measure by dermatologists rather than an actual treatment for wrinkles. Why are so many young people getting the procedure? It prevents wrinkles. But is it safe? Is there a recommended minimum age? Who is eligible?

What Is Baby Botox?

Baby Botox uses the same product as traditional Botox – just less. According to Caroline Ruhl, SkinSpirit Gaithersburg’s aesthetic nurse practitioner, Botox is a neurotoxin that prevents muscles from contracting.

According to Brian Hibler, a dermatologist at NYC’s Schweiger Dermatology Group, it is ideal for 20 to 30-year-olds without static lines on their forehead or glabella (the area above the eyebrows). A static line exists even when there is no movement, Hibler said. More units must reduce the lines at rest to prevent them from etching in deeper. A traditional Botox treatment may help in this case.

Benefits

Baby Botox has several benefits. Ruhl said it takes time for newcomers to adjust to the world of neurotoxins. Baby Botox also yields more natural-looking results. While traditional Botox can appear as a “frozen” muscle, baby Botox gives the impression of a “softened” muscle.

This is ideal for those who don’t have significant movement in their skin. Thus, they require fewer units to relax their muscles than someone with deeper lines. A small amount of baby Botox will certainly minimize fine lines and wrinkles.

Baby Botox is primarily used for prevention. It is easier to prevent deep, etched lines than correct them later if repeated neuromodulator treatments are repeated over many years. Hibler says starting Botox treatments early prevents lines.
