Since Botox was introduced to the public in the late 1980s, it has challenged our views on gender, ageism, wellness, and plastic surgery. It isn’t just women who undergo the operation; men also get it.
Women received over 4 million Botox-like treatments in 2020, while males had just over 250,000 of these operations, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ report on plastic surgery statistics for 2020.

Experts pointed out that in the past few years, there has been a strong surge in demand for muscle-freezing, wrinkle-reducing injection among a range of people, even though there is still a significant disparity in the number of treatments between the two genders.
The male market is growing more quickly. The term “brotox” is used in humor to describe this.
Female Versus Male Botox
Although men and women frequently seek Botox treatments on the same facial regions, doctors point out that the treatments vary depending on the gender a person was assigned at birth. Generally, males require more Botox than women to get comparable benefits due to their bigger muscle mass in the facial musculature.
For ladies, they often start with around 15 units of Botox and increase as necessary to get the desired effect. While starting with 20 units for men and tweaking from, there is advised.
Some doctors also think that because of men’s metabolism, Botox wears off quicker in them, albeit this theory is based only on anecdotal data.

The Future Of Botox
According to experts, the general patterns will not change in the foreseeable future. Both men and women will continue to seek treatment for identical facial problems. The proportion of males getting Botox will marginally rise yearly, even though more women than men are anticipated to have the operation.
Ageism in the workplace also affects men, even though it used to be a problem that women in the workforce frequently brought up.
