Flight attendants are often seen as the face of airlines, responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of passengers during a flight. However, there are several things that passengers expect flight attendants to do that are not part of their job description. Babysitting
Parents may assume that flight attendants will watch their children during a flight. However, flight attendants are not trained to provide childcare services and are primarily responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all passengers on board.

Resolving Conflicts
Flight attendants are responsible for maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for all passengers. However, they are not trained to resolve disputes between passengers. In cases of conflict, they may call upon law enforcement officials or other authorities to intervene.
Carrying Luggage
While flight attendants may assist passengers in stowing their carry-on luggage, they are not responsible for carrying it for them. Passengers are expected to handle their luggage and ensure it is properly stored.
Serving Special Meals
Passengers with dietary restrictions may presume that flight attendants can accommodate their meal requirements. However, it is essential to note that flight attendants are not responsible for catering and do not have any authority over the meals served on the flight. Passengers with dietary restrictions should inform the airline well before their travel to ensure that their nutritional needs are met.

Fixing Broken Equipment
If a passenger’s seat or entertainment system is not working correctly, they may assume that a flight attendant can fix the issue. However, flight attendants are not trained to repair broken equipment on a plane. Instead, they can inform the cabin crew, who will then contact the maintenance team on the ground to resolve the issue.
Despite the crucial role of flight attendants in keeping passengers safe and comfortable during air travel, passengers expect some things that aren’t in their job description. Passengers should be aware of what services flight attendants can and cannot provide to avoid misunderstandings and ensure a smooth and stress-free flight.
