Did Ya Know?

The Important Body Part You’re Probably Missing When You Apply Sunscreen

It goes without saying to use sunscreen. Understand that your arms, legs, and face are not the only places the sun’s dangerous UV rays can reach.

Do you apply sunscreen everywhere, or do you overlook a few places? Here are a few places you might not be ignoring.

Scalp

Beach hats are there for a reason, apart from looking pretty. Telling yourself to begin your sun protection regimen at the top of your head and finish with the tops of your feet will help you remember to cover this area. It is possible to forget to protect your scalp when applying sunscreen until you experience pain or notice dryness due to excessive sun exposure.

Ears

We ensure sunscreen is applied to our faces and necks (you should apply it here if you don’t already!), but have you thought about your ears? Most of us forget to apply sunscreen to our ears. So make sure you get to it! And you should do it since it is the most sensitive part.

Lips

Lips have very little natural protection from the sun because they lack melanin. Lip gloss may encourage UV radiation to reach your skin. So be smart and use sunscreen-infused lip balms. And if you apply multiple layers of lip gloss and believe you are protected, reconsider.

Back Of The Hands

There is no point in applying the leftover sunscreen on your hands to finish it off. After applying sunscreen to your entire body, spend a little more time moisturizing your hands with sunscreen. This will make sense when you experience fine lines, age spots, and other physical aging effects from the sun.

Feet

Applying sunscreen is a must, whether your feet are in the sand or feeling the wind in a pair of flip-flops. The soles and heels are vulnerable to severe burns and can potentially develop melanomas.
