People have been curious about stars since the beginning of time, and there’s still so much we don’t know about them.
Something about these celestial beings is genuinely magical and forces us to take a step back, relax, and put life in perspective.
Unfortunately, you can’t do this just anywhere. Some live in big cities where seeing the stars isn’t an option. And others live in places where it seems to be eternally overcast, and the view of the stars is always obstructed.
The United States have a few places where you can appreciate the beauty and stars at their best.
Mauna Kea | Hawaii
It is an observatory that sits on a volcano. Albeit it’s a dormant volcano, but a volcano nonetheless. And that volcano happens to be nearly 14,000 feet tall.
This spot is widely known as one of the best spots in the world to stargaze. So good that 11 countries have built observatories on the volcano. Thanks to the tropical inversion layer, pollutants don’t get in the way, and the skies are always clear for viewing.
Bryce Canyon National Park | Utah
As one of the country’s best stargazing spots, this place has several factors working in its favor. A high-powered telescope and astronomy programs are available throughout the year at the park with the help of the “Dark Rangers,” so check out the schedule to time your visit.
Denali National Park And Preserve | Alaska
You want to head to Denali to see them because the northern lights are focused around the earth’s magnetic poles, and Denali is right up there. With the lack of city lights and the remoteness of Denali National Park, there is nothing here to interrupt your viewing.
