Undoubtedly, two of the most anticipated films in Phase 4 of the MCU are the upcoming films Doctor Strange 2 and Spider-Man 3. This reason is that both of these entries into their respective franchises are set to explore the multiverse.
Spider-Man: No Way Home will center around its central character Peter Parker and tip its toes into the multiverse. However, we are going to get a more intense immersion into the multiverse with the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness film.
The introduction of the multiverse in these two films will serve as a preparation for what is soon to come in the remainder of Phase 4 of the MCU.
With the introduction of the multiverse, fans will be prepared for the possible return of those Marvel characters that were once dead, but not so much now. As if this isn’t fantastic enough, the two films are connected to one another, as the character portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch, Doctor Stephen Strange, will appear in both.
Now, some information has been leaked from the production of Doctor Strange 2 as to who the film’s villain will be. It is worth noting that any leaked information from a movie set is not confirmed and is more along the line of rumors rather than fact.
The leak indicates that the villain Shuma-Gorath will come into play in Doctor Strange 2. Shuma is the ruler of the chaos dimension, which happens to be where the Scarlet Witch draws her powers. It is in this dimension that Wanda and Visions children are currently held, as indicated at the end of the television series WandaVision.
Kevin Feige had already confirmed that Elizabeth Olsen would return in her role of Wanda for the Doctor Strange sequel, and the actress has been quoted as saying her role in the film is significant. There have been numerous other leaks that Wanda will be the film’s villain—in the form of an anti-hero.
