Here is one for the “you just don’t hear that every day” list. A young woman in Britain is “engaged” to a—wait for it—chandelier. Yep, you read that right—a chandelier.
Amanda Liberty, 34 years old, considers herself as an objectum sexual, defined as someone who is attracted to objects. So much so, that she is currently engaged to a chandelier. Lumiere, the 91-year-old object of Liberty’s affection is described by her as the “partner of her dreams.”
The tattoo of Lumiere that Liberty had applied to her arm, was designed by Alice Perrin, of the British hit television series “Tattoo Fixers.” The tattoo took approximately one and one-half hours to complete. Liberty admitted to being very nervous before going under the needle. However, when she saw the completed results, she was very pleased, stating that Lumiere was as well.
“Lumiere also thought it was brilliant, she gave me the energy telling me it was great. She tells me she doesn’t really like things, but she really likes the tattoo.”
The Leeds native stated that it was love at first sight when she saw the chandelier listed on eBay. The chandelier itself was made in Germany and is estimated to be 91 years old. Amanda told the Daily Mail:
“As soon as I saw Lumiere on eBay, I knew immediately that she was the one for me, and it was love at first sight. She was based in Germany, and although I knew it would be tricky getting her home, I knew I needed to find a way to make her my own.”
Liberty proposed to Lumiere last Valentine’s day and hopes to one day have a commitment ceremony. She admits that she has never been engaged, and finds it all new and very exciting.
