The Results Are In For Best Store-Bought Spaghetti Sauce

Any fan of pasta sauce will tell you that nothing beats homemade—hands down.  However, we don’t always have the time, or the energy, to make it from scratch.  In times like those, it is to your benefit to know which store-bought brand will work in a pinch.

Such was the basis of Best Love Brands Spaghetti Sauce test, conducted by the people over at Taste of Home.  Eleven total brands were taste-tested—some were what would be considered standards while others were complete unknowns to the test team.

Each brand of pasta sauce was put up against a set number of criteria, including flavor, texture, and appearance.  Most in the know will agree that a satisfying and tasty pasta sauce has to have the right combination of tomato, garlic, herbs, and olive oil.

This is how the taste test played out:

In third place Francesco Rinaldi.  At less than $2 a jar, this herb-filled sauce, with a beautiful mixture of basil and oregano flavor, also presented with a good texture.  Not too thick and not too thin, it would more than work as an excellent all-purpose sauce, and we highly suggest you keep it on hand.

Second place goes to
