On Friday night, a man voluntarily jumped into a Toronto aquarium tank, full of—sharks!
And if the fact he was crazy enough to that, he is not only wanted for an indecent exposure charge but authorities state they are also looking for him after a reported violent assault earlier in the evening.
According to spokeswoman Katrina Arrogante, Toronto police received a call around 10:30 pm, from the Ripley’s Aquarium, stating that a naked man was swimming with the sharks.
Arrogante went on to state:
“We arrived on scene within seven minutes and he was already gone. There were no injuries to the man, animals, or the patrons.”
According to the CBC, a video was obtained showing a security guard yelling at a bald man as he swam around the shark tank.
At one time, the video showed the man getting out of the tank, only to turn around and dive back in, all to the cheers of the watching crowd.
A time stamp on the video surveillance of the aquarium shows that the man arrived at around 10 pm. A representative for Ripleys stated the video also showed:
“After purchasing a ticket, immediately disrobed and proceeded to climb over the security into the exhibit.”
One of the onlookers stated that she was terrified that she was going to witness the naked mans death.
The man that was caught swimming with the shark is described as a bald man, estimated between thirty-five and forty years old. He is approximately five feet ten inches tall and roughly two hundred and twenty pounds. He also is said to have a tattoo on his lower leg.
The suspect continues to remain at large, but Toronto authorities stated when apprehended they intend to charge the individual with indecent exposure. He is also wanted in connection with a violent assault that occurred at a restaurant within miles of the aquarium, earlier that evening.
Ripleys plans to press charges once the man is identified and apprehended as well.
