Whether you believe it or not, spring has arrived. Of course, if you live in a place that has had a prolonged winter, the only way to feel like it’s actually spring is to take a trip somewhere you can enjoy the warm weather and blossoming flowers. Fortunately, there is no shortage of places that make great travel destinations in the springtime. Here are just a few worth considering if you feel the need to get away after the long winter.
If you have a passport handy, head up to Montreal any time from late March until May to enjoy springtime in Quebec. It’ll still be a little chilly, but at least the snow will be gone. Plus, Montreal is a beautiful city to explore on foot, so all the walking should keep you warm. If you’ve never been to Montreal, you’ll soon discover it’s the closest city to Paris you’ll find in North America. There are cafes and pubs with outdoor seating, plenty of lush green parks, and no shortage of tourist destinations, including the Notre-Dame Basilica.
Washington can get unbearably hot in the summer, so if you’ve ever wanted to visit the nation’s capital, springtime is the ideal time of year. You can spend days walking up and down the national mall, visiting monuments and museums, many of which are free. In the summer, you’ll quickly wear yourself out, but in the spring, you’ll have the energy to see everything you want. It also doesn’t hurt that the cherry blossoms will start to bloom in the spring, making Washington a truly beautiful and magnificent city to visit.
Speaking of cherry blossoms, the Oregon State Capital in Salem hosts an annual cherry blossom festival every spring. The festival is just one of the many things that make Salem a visually spectacular place to visit in the springtime. Salem is littered with beautiful gardens, parks, and historical sites, making it a great place to visit if you want to see flowers in bloom and feel like spring has finally arrived.
